A transformative mask derived from contextual inspirations of traditional Ukrainian fairytales.

Specifically, influence was drawn from the likes of Ivasik Telesik’s folklore “The Lame Duck”, alongside the beautiful yet surreal illustrations of Katarina Shtanko.

Comprising the form and features of 3 distinct characters of a story, the wearer personifies the story, becoming one that augments and shifts within a narrative of good versus evil.

The fantasy captures the multi-faceted and nuanced nature of conflict; regardless of it being overtly aggressive, subtle; intrapersonal.

As an aural counterpart; looping soundscapes evoke the metallic dissonance of war, the dark drone of suffering; contrasted with and softened by the quiet, healing and transformative qualities of wind, birdsong and rhythms of the organic world.

The mask was concepted as a tribute of Ukrainian culture in a time of struggle and oppression. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the mask will go toward humanitarian aid in Ukraine.
